Highway heroes, drive on down!

Heroes almost never like to admit they’ve done something special. That doesn’t mean others can’t say it for them.

The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company is looking for nominations for the 18th annual Goodyear North America Highway Hero Award before the October 15 deadline.

Those who want to help dispel the negative stereotypes of the truckers can nominate a carrier who has been involved in a selfless act of bravery while on the job.

Winners will be selected from each U.S. state and Canadian province. The list will then be paired down to four finalists-one of who will be crowned the winner at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville and be selected to serve as the program’s annual ambassador.

Nominees must reside and work as full-time truckers in the U.S. or Canada. The heroic incident must have occurred in either country between Oct. 1, 1999 and Sept. 30, 2000 and the nominee’s truck must have had 14 wheels or more at the time.

Nominations can be made by dialing the award hotline at 1-800/627-2118 or visit www.highwayhero.net.
