Holland Electronic Lock Indicator
The Holland Group has introduced a new Electronic Lock Indicator (ELI) for Holland FW35 series fifth wheels. The device is designed to help drivers monitor and manage the fifth wheel and coupling process from inside the cab. It verifies the fifth wheel and kingpin locking sequence and then transfers the data to the driver in “real-time” through a display on the dashboard or driver’s-side rear mirror. The latter uses a series of colored icons in the glass and an LED warning light.
When the tractor starts, the ELI system diagnoses the coupling status through magnetic proximity sensors installed on the fifth wheel top plate. The sensors transfer the coupling status to a driver in the form of various icons. The system automatically records and stores the data from the most recent 300 coupling attempts, which can then be downloaded to a PC using Holland-supplied software.
Currently, ELI is available as an option on Holland 3FW33 and FW35 fifth wheel models.
