Hwy. 103 twinning almost complete
HALIFAX — Drivers and truckers traveling on Hwy 103 between Otter Lake and Upper Tantallon, N.S. will soon have more than one lane to motor.
According to the Halifax Chronicle Herald, the $45-million twinning of Hwy 103 could be completed by Oct. 31.
Longtime area residents like Mr. Negus and thousands of commuters from sprawling new subdivisions accessed by the busy 15-kilometre stretch of road are applauding the pending completion of the divided highway.
For the past three years, the 15 km stretch has been lined with, traffic cones and barricades where motorists have been rerouted.
A ministry of transport spokesman said the project has taken longer than expected because of the higher than normal number of bridges and overpasses. A late decision to slightly modify parts of the route caused delays too, according to the Herald.
A section of Hwy 103 is also being tweaked at Barrington, Shelburne County, where a bypass is under construction.
