ICBC seeking nominations for road safety awards
VANCOUVER (July 7, 1999) — British Columbia’s provincial insurance company, the Insurance Corp. of B.C., wants to recognize road safety by seeking nominations for the 1999 Lisa Nemetz Memorial Awards.
The awards will be handed out in six regions of the province to groups, organizations, or individuals that promote safe driving issues and mobilize their communities, ICBC said, with winners receiving $1000. Nomination forms are available at ICBC Claim Centres and at Driver Services Centres.
The deadline for nominations is Sept. 10. Regional winners will be announced in late September.
The award is named in honor of Lisa Nemetz, a member of ICBC’s Board of Directors who passed away in 1997. Nemetz was a road safety advocate who helped shape ICBC’s efforts to help British Columbians take the risk out of road transportation, ICBC said.
