Idle-Free Ambassadors take environmental message to drivers
TORONTO — If a stranger taps on the window of your vehicle while you’re idling in Toronto this weekend, they’re probably not looking for directions. They may be delivering an environmental message.
Hundreds of Volunteer “Idle-Free Ambassadors” — summoned by the Greenest City and Clean Airs Partnership (CAP) will be patrolling Toronto’s streets in a four-day anti-idling blitz to remind drivers to turn off engines while stopped on the side of the road.
Drivers will be engaged in conversation about reducing their impact on the environment and ask to display a removable decal in their vehicle window.
