IdleAire power shore being fitted at 50 TA locations

WESTLAKE, Ohio — TravelCenters of America has announced that idling-reduction technology will be installed at 50 TA locations over the next 15 months, following a recent partnership agreement with IdleAire Technologies.

TA already offers IdleAire Technologies’ Advanced Travel Center Electrification (ATE) shore power system at locations in selected states including Maryland, New Jersey and Texas. The system allows professional drivers to access electrical shore power, individual central heating and air conditioning, and a range of communications and entertainment services in their truck cab without idling their engines during federally mandated daily rest breaks.

Ten additional TA locations are or will be under construction in California, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina and Texas. Additional installations are being completed weekly.

The company says that its only Canadian location, off Hwy 401 in Woodstock, Ont., won’t be part of the first implementation phase.

TA recently opened its first truck maintenance shop at the Canadian facility The 11,757 square-foot facility will offer four truck service bays, Express Lane Services and 24-hour emergency road service.
