Import/export association schedules seminars on CSA/AMPS
TORONTO (Sept. 7, 2001) — The Canadian Association of Importers & Exporters has scheduled four seminars on two customs initiatives designed to streamline border clearance of freight and drivers.
Pending legislative approval, Canada Customs and Revenue Agency is scheduled to enact its Customs Self-Assessment and Administrative Monetary Penalty System programs on Oct. 29. Importers and carriers approved to use the program will be able to get their cargo automatically cleared and submit customs duties electronically after the goods have crossed the border.
The CAIE seminars take place Sept. 25 in Ottawa; Sept. 26 in Calgary; Sept. 27 in Vancouver; and Sept. 28 in London, Ont.
The subjects will also be covered at the association’s annual conference, Oct. 22-24 in Toronto.
