Index releases APAds update

Index Sensors and Controls has released a version of its popular APAds protection and diagnostic module that’s compatible with air conditioners on all makes of heavy-duty vehicles.

The APAds system automatically lubricates, monitors, and protects air-conditioning systems year-round. When the system detects harmful conditions, such as high or low refrigerant pressure, or high or low voltage, it temporarily suspends compressor operation, preventing rapid cycling and premature wear and tear.

The new version, called the CM-814, comes with a three-year warranty. It is available for all truck makes because all OEMs have adopted two-wire AC clutches as standard (single-wire, case-ground, clutches were common in the past).

The company estimates a return on investment within one year, due to reduced troubleshooting time and service costs. Technicians can quickly diagnose an AC system problem by reading APAds’ simple LED blink codes.
