Info sought in another trucker attack

EDMONTON — Longtime trucker Garry Tasse, 52, had his leg broken by a man wielding a metal pipe while waiting in line at a truck wash facility in Edmonton.

According to the Edmonton Sun, Tasse was attacked at the Gear Jammer truck wash after he got into an argument with a pair of other truck drivers who complained he had butted in the line.

Tasse says the assailants, who he describes as east Asian, first threw stones at him. Then, when the confrontation escalated, one man struck Tasse in the legs with a long metal pipe.

The trucker says the pair took off in a truck that was so dirty, the licence plate and company logo could not be identified.

After getting treated for a broken leg in hospital, Tasse told the Sun that police now have an idea who the suspects are and what trucking company the vehicle belonged to.

Tasse says the injury will keep him out of work for several months.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call police at 780-423-4567.

Meanwhile, police are still searching for a group of men who allegedly beat up a B.C. trucker and left him for dead on the side of the Yellowhead Highway.

Alex Fraser, a 67-year-old driver with Monarch Transport, says the attack on him was unprovoked.

The B.C. Trucking Association and the Canadian Trucking Alliance have offered a combined $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the assailants.
