International offers factory-install of Air-Weigh scales

CHATHAM, Ont. (Sept. 7, 2001) — International Truck & Engine Co. has made Air-Weigh on-board truck scales a factory-installed option on class-8 tractors produced at the truck maker’s plant in Chatham, Ont.

The scales will be pre-installed at the 40,000 square-foot, 35-bay new-truck processing centre adjacent to the truck plant. The centre is operated by Waycon International Trucks Ltd., an International dealer in Chatham. It prepares vehicles prior to delivery to dealers and customers.

The Chatham facility is International’s largest class-8 truck manufacturing plant.

Air-Weigh electronic scales are designed to monitor the actual on-the-ground weight of the entire vehicle to ensure that the load does not exceed a legal GVW and that the load is legally distributed over the axles.
