J.B. Hunt places $40 million order for Wabash trailers
LOWELL, Ark. (Sept. 1, 1999) — Within a week of announcing it would pay $1 billion US for 15,000 Freightliner tractors over the next five years, J.B. Hunt Transport Services said it has placed an order totaling about $40 million for several thousand trailers from Wabash National.
Delivery of the trailers — DuraPlate models with air-ride suspensions and logistics features — will begin in the fourth quarter and continue into the year 2000.
J.B. Hunt is a truckload specialist based in Lowell, Ark. Wabash designs, manufactures and markets standard and customized truck trailers under the Wabash and Fruehauf trademarks.
