Johnston named president at Yanke group
SASKATOON (Feb. 10) — Quickly rising through the ranks, Scott Johnston has been named president of the Yanke Group of Companies, the Saskatoon-based transportation company.
Johnston joined Yanke in 1990 as a regional manager, became director of the company’s eastern operations in 1992, was named executive vice-president of sales and operations in 1994, and has been executive vice-president and general manager since 1996.
Johnston, a former RCMP officer, is a 25-year veteran of the transportation industry.
Privately owned Yanke Group is comprised of seven divisions, including truckload, expedited services, intermodal flatdeck, and container operations.
The company generated record revenues of $70 million in 1998, according to Yanke CEO and chairman Russel Marcoux.
