Kenworth boss says company leads in resale value

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Mar. 20, 2002) — Kenworth general manager and PACCAR vice-president Ed Caudill said that the slumping truck sales market has now begun to level off and he has every reason to believe the market is shaping itself for an eventual climb in the second half of 2003.

Moreover, Caudill also said that Kenworth is the best positioned of all the truck OEMs to lead the industry in resale value, adding that older Kenworth trucks carry comparable resale values as newer competitor models in the same class.

Caudill primarily attributes the accomplishment to what he calls the “strongest dealer network in the industry, including a particularly strong Kenworth presence and dealer network in Western Canada. Edmonton Kenworth recently won Dealer of the Year, and GreatWest Kenworth, based in Calgary, was one of several Kenworth dealers to get a Silver award.

“We were the only OEM that didn’t lose a single dealer last year in what turned out to be a very rough year,” Caudill said. The company also added 25 new North American dealers last year.
