Kenworth makes Dana Spicer’s LMS bearing and seal package standard

KIRKLAND, Wash. (April 20, 2001) — Kenworth Truck Co. has made Dana Spicer’s Low Maintenance System (LMS) bearing and seal package standard on the front steering axle for all new Kenworth class-8 and T300 medium duty conventional models.

The Dana Spicer LMS hub package includes Timken half-tolerance bearings, a precision bearing spacer, and Dana Spicer Outrunner oil seals. ConMet aluminum hubs used with this system offer special, close-tolerance machining for the bearing seats, helping to ensure precise spacing of the bearings for accurate adjustment.

Kenworth said the combination is expected to provide longer bearing life, longer seal life, and better bearing control. The bearings do not need adjustment for three years or 350,000 miles, unless disturbed. Dana Spicer LMS bearing and seal package carries a 3-year, 350,000-mile warranty.
