Kenworth makes ISM its standard Cummins engine

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Kenworth Truck Co. will offer Cummins ISM engines as its standard Cummins powerplant starting in January 1999, replacing the M11 series engine line.

ISM engines will be available for most Kenworth chassis models scheduled starting in early January and on the T2000 beginning in the second quarter of 1999, the truck-maker said.

ISM engines incorporate Cummins’s “Interact System” which integrates all engine functions electronically through the electronic control module. This is designed to help the ISM engine to deliver optimum power, fuel economy, reliability, and durability.
