KRTS Driving School Partners with College
SIMCOE, Ont. (July 29, 2005) — Starting this fall, Fanshawe College in Simcoe will be offering a transportation program in partnership with Caledonia-Ont. based Kim Richardson Transportation Specialists.
The program is a six-week Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI) certified course that’s been welcomed by trucking companies looking to recruit entry level drivers from a PTDI certified course. Some of these industry stakeholders have already invested in the program that will be offered at Fanshawe.
Donna Gates, principal of the James N. Allan Campus in Simcoe, says she’s excited about the partnership with KRTS. “We couldn’t be happier to be bringing this new program to our area and to be doing so in partnership with one of the largest truck-driver training facilities in Ontario. This program will meet a need within our community and that is always of utmost importance to us,” said Gates.
There continues to be a driver shortage across the country and for the trucking companies in the Simcoe area, this is no different, says KRTS President Kim Richardson. “With all of the changes going on with the Ministry of Transportation test facilities and the need for a higher quality of educational programs in the transportation industry, we see our partnership with Fanshawe as a good fit,” he says.
