Mack adds 10-speed
Mack Trucks has expanded its family of T300 Maxitorque ES transmissions by adding a 10-speed for highway and light off-road work.
The T310, with its triple countershaft design, is available in Mack’s Vision, CH, and Granite model vehicles and can be matched with any of Mack’s ASET engines to produce a fully integrated Mack powertrain.
The 310T is a conventional 10-speed range box pattern with 39-per-cent steps. The 19.04 overall ratio yields a wide operating range, from the .73 overdrive top-gear ratio to the 13.81:1 first-gear ratio.
With its lightweight aluminum case and optimized gear design, the T310 weighs 665 pounds. SAE six- and eight-bolt PTO mounts, which operate at 70 per cent of engine speed, are available on the right and left sides, respectively.
Mack says the triple countershaft design of the T300 family has a proven track record for reliability and durability: distributing the load among three shafts lowers the stress on the components. The warranty is five years or 750,000 miles.
