MacKinnon named CTA chairman
PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 21, 2003) — Evan MacKinnon, CEO of MacKinnon Transport in Guelph, Ont., was named chairman of the Canadian Trucking Alliance at the organization’s annual general meeting in Phoenix, Ariz., last week.
MacKinnon has served on the CTA board for more than 10 years and played an active role in the grou’s restructuring almost six years ago.
MacKinnon said one of his goals will be to draw more involvement from carriers, either directly or through their provincial association.
“As effective as CTA and the provincial associations are, there are enormous challenges that confront the trucking industry which demand a greater resource allocation,” he said. “There can be no free-riders; we need everyone to contribute to the work of the associations.”
MacKinnon’s company, MacKinnon Transport, is a third-generation family business. This year, it was recognized as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for 2002 by the National Post newspaper and is two time recipient of the Truckload Carriers Association Grand Fleet Safety Award.
