Maddocks sold to US software giant

BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Maddocks Systems, one of Canada’s largest suppliers of trucking software has been bought by TMW Systems in the U.S.

The deal — terms of which were not disclosed — establishes TMW Systems as North America’s largest provider of enterprise management software to the trucking industry with more than 1,000 customers managing 175,000 trucks worldwide and revenues in excess of $40M US, the company says.

Together, the two companies actively serve more “Top 100” carriers than any other software provider in the North American market.

The infusion of technology, staff and expertise from Maddocks creates an R&D group that is three times the size of any competing enterprise management software provider serving the trucking industry, according to TMW, which was itself purchased by Wachovia Capital Partners and Peppertree Capital Management last year.

Maddocks’ additional expertise in LTL, intermodal and cross border functionality, is also expected to give TMW a boost in the North American market.

David Wangler, President and CEO of TMW Systems will lead the combined company. “Maddocks is a well respected brand and will bring many additional products and services to our already well-rounded portfolio of offerings,” he said. “Both company’s customers will benefit from this acquisition through expanded products and services, broader geographic reach, and greater scale.”

TMW Systems will continue to develop, evolve and support both companies’ product offerings including TMWSuite Windows-based solution, TL2000 for the IBM iSeries and Maddocks TruckMate for Windows.

TMW has also formalized its Lifetime Support Policy and extended it to include the Maddocks TruckMate for Windows product providing unparalleled investment protection.

“Essentially, we are committed to supporting any customer of TMWSuite, TL2000, or TruckMate provided they continuously subscribe to our support and maintenance offering,” says Wangler.

Adds Bob Maddocks, president of Maddocks Systems: “With our combined resources and technology, new features and modules will be available to both product suites in a very short time. Add-on offerings such as imaging, mobile communications, business activity monitoring and driver portals are planned to be available within a few short months.”
