Manitoba-Nunavut road link explored
WINNIPEG, (Jan. 27,2004) — A new study examining the feasibility of creating a road link between Nunavut and Manitoba has been launched by various levels of government.
The $1.1 million Manitoba-Nunavut Route Selection Study will evaluate potential road corridors between the province and the territory, as well as determine socio-economic and environmental impact reviews. Planning and securing funding for the study has been ongoing for two years.
The study is sponsored by Transport Canada, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, the Province of Manitoba, the Government of Nunavut, and the Kiyalliq Inuit Association.
