Manitoba posts safety ratings online
WINNIPEG (June 11, 2001) — With $388,000 in funding from Transport Canada, Manitoba transport officials unveiled an enhanced carrier profile system and Internet access to a trucking company’s safety rating.
The upgrades allow the province to track at-fault accidents and collisions, convictions, roadside inspection results, and facility audits. Based on their performance, carriers receive one of four ratings: satisfactory, satisfactory/unaudited, conditional, or unsatisfactory.
Web access to safety rating information is available at www.gov.mb.ca/hwy/cps-disclaimer.html.
Manitoba currently has approximately 17,000 registered carriers operating over 40,000 commercial vehicles and buses.
