Mayne the man for transport training group

CALGARY — Mayne Root, who recently retired as the head of the Alberta Motor Transport Association, has been named the executive director of the Transportation Training and Development Association.

Root has been a member of the TT&DA Board for many years and brings a wealth of knowledge of the industry and government involvement to the position. ??

The TT&DA was formed by the highway transportation industry in conjunction with Alberta Transportation in the early 1990’s to address industry needs for well trained and qualified drivers in Alberta. It is currently working with government and the Red Deer College to establish a College level certificate program for the commercial driving profession in the province.

Root replaces Cliff Soper who is moving to focus more community involvement with the Lacombe County Council and other varied interests.

Soper will still be involved as a member of the TT&DA Board.

Root can be reached at mayner1@telus.net or by phone at 1-587-224-5053.
