MB truck technicians win top spot in Volvo fix-it competition

WINNIPEG – A trio of Manitoba service technicians placed first in the 2011 Volvo Trucks North America VISTA competition.

The Beaver Truck Centre team – made up of Dennis Baehnk, Chris Dunn and Daniel Teleglow beat out 119 other groups from across North America.

The Manitoba Trucking Association announced that the three winning technicians will now head to Gothenburg, Sweden to compete in the VISTA World final at the end of June.

“On behalf of the Manitoba Trucking Association I would like to congratulate Beaver Truck Centre and their winning team of technicians," says MTA Executive Director Bob Dolyniuk.

This is not the first time the Beaver Truck Centre team has reigned supreme at the competition; In 2007, the team was crowned North American champions for the first time.

The competition includes three rounds of online technical questions, with the top three finalists traveling to North Carolina for further practical and hands-on testing. The practical test includes knowledge about service bulletins, parts look up and troubleshooting faults on Volvo trucks and engines.
