Medium duty GM dealer on the move
MARKHAM, ONT. — A Toronto trucking institution turned a big corner last week. Medium-duty dealer Irvine Truck Centre, originally opened by Alex Irvine in Scarborough 44 years ago, hosted customers, about 25 suppliers, friends, kids, and local dignitaries to celebrate the opening of splashy new digs in the town of Markham, just northeast of Toronto.
Irvine, which serves the whole Greater Toronto Area (GTA) as well as national customers, now has extended service hours as well as more space for the technicians.
Says General Manager Mike Mintsopoulous: “We can accommodate eight more units at any given time, and this kind of facility will make it easier to attract techs, who, as you know, are in short supply.”
Irvine has no shortage at the moment, though. They have six technicians on staff and three apprentices. Although Irvine services all models of trucks, their sales reps specialize in GM medium-duty vehicles and last year sold an amazing 346 units out of the old Scarborough location.
The new Markham location is located a very convenient four minutes from Hwy. 404.
Irvine owned by the Roy Foss Group of Companies.
