Meyers buys small Napanee fleet
TORONTO — LTL hauler Meyers Transport has acquired family fleet Dickson Transport in Napanee, Ont. The company will be consolidated with the Mortrans division.
The Dickson family has an 80-year history of providing truckload services between Ontario, Quebec, and parts of the U.S.
“The current economic difficulties caused by the high dollar, coupled with continuing demands to implement evolving, sophisticated and expensive technology lead to a family decision that Dickson’s could better serve their customers and provide meaningful employment to their drivers by joining a larger organization,” wrote VP Dave Scott on the company’s website.
“In assessing alternatives they found that both of our companies share the same family values, integrity, ethics, and have the same goals of providing the highest levels of service possible tailored to the needs of our customers.”
Owners Todd and Tracey Dickson as well as most their drivers will all be joining the Mortrans team.
An additional terminal in Napanee focused on servicing the local shippers will strengthen Meyers’ ability to serve the Eastern U.S. more cost effectively, says Scott, adding that Dickson’s dock in Napanee will improve the ability to consolidate LTL loads headed for the States.
