TORONTO — According to the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI), the total cost of ground transportation for Canadian shippers increased marginally by .575 percent over December.

The Base Rate Index increased marginally over December with 0.38 percent while Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by carriers saw an increase from Decemeber’s 19.66 percent to 20.36 percent in January.

“Cross border Truckload saw an increase while the other segments (domestic LTL,TL and Cross Border LTL) had decreases.” said Doug Payne, president and COO, Nulogx. “Of particular note, Total Costs are still trailing behind a year ago levels.” continued Payne.
