Mistake-Free Delivery
Cadec, maker of onboard computer systems, announced powerful new software and a new modem option for its Mobius TTS onboard computer and handheld device, introduced earlier this year.
The company’s Mobius Point-of-Delivery (POD) software can produce an electronic manifest, detailed delivery information, printed delivery receipts, up-to-the-minute invoice updates, product verification, electronic payment, reconciliation, and signature capture. It can also review the actions of the driver throughout the entire delivery process, from preparation to completion.
If a driver attempts to deliver goods to the wrong destination, the software sounds an alert. Should the delivery have an overage, shortage or damaged goods, the driver can make the appropriate changes to the invoice before noting the payment method. Instant proof of delivery satisfaction is taken when the customer’s signature is captured electronically. A printer connection is also provided should the driver need to print an itemized delivery receipt or deposit slip.
Real-time messaging using satellite, cellular, or a combination of both is available via Aether System’s Multimode Modem. The modem will choose the cellular communications path when the vehicle is in terrestrial coverage, and automatically switch to the satellite network when a cellular signal is not available. Short-range radio frequency can also be used when real-time communications are not a necessary part of doing business.
Designed to be every bit as functional as a desktop computer, the Mobius TTS unit is powered by an Intel StrongArm processor using true 32-BIT RISC technology running Microsoft Windows CE. It has 12-channel GPS, audio input/output, expandable memory to 320 MB, 18 input/outputs, and four serial I/O ports.
