Mitsubishi: A 2002 Preview

Mitsubishi Fuso previewed its 2002 cabover models in classes 3 through 7 at the National Truck Equipment Association’s annual convention in Baltimore in February. The new features, available this summer, include a crew cab for MFTA’s class-4 FE-SP with automatic transmission. The FE-SP crew cab, which can seat seven people (three up front and four in the back), is available with a 165.4-inch wheelbase and a 175-horsepower turbocharged diesel engine. The truck, with a 14,500-pound gross vehicle weight rating, has a usable cab-to-rear axle capacity of 100.8 inches.

The FM-MR 6-speed manual transmission and FM-SP 10-speed manual will now be available in a new 144.9-inch wheelbase, well-suited for tanker service and short length dump body applications.

The FM models are the manufacturer’s highest capacity trucks, available in 25,995-, 30,000-, and 32,900-pound GVW ratings. Depending on the model, a turbocharged 200 horsepower or 300 horsepower diesel is standard, with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions, and full air or air/hydraulic brakes, both with ABS.
