Mount Pearl fleet owner named APTA chairman
ST. JOHN’S — D.D. Transport’s Gordon Peddle has been elected chairman of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association.
The Mount Pearl, Nfld. fleet owner was among a slate of new members elected to the APTA’s Board of Directors at its annual general meeting today in St. John’s.
“I look forward to upholding the values and goals of the APTA and its members,” Peddle said. “The APTA continues to grow and respond to the advocacy and awareness of the long haul trucking industry in Atlantic Canada. The challenges are many and the opportunities are great. I am very much looking forward to my new role and responsibilities as Chair of the APTA Board of Directors.”
Peddle has served on the APTA board for nine years and the board of the Canadian Trucking Alliance for three years. He succeeds outgoing chairman Vaughn Sturgeon, owner of the Warren Group in Rexton, N.B.
“Vaughn Sturgeon, with his youth, vigor and vitality, launched the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association in a new direction,” said APTA Executive Director Peter Nelson. “His energy and commitment to the association and our industry is second to none and we believe that Vaughn will continue to be an important and ongoing contributor to the association.”
