MPSI parent stakes future on diagnostics
MANCHESTER, N.H. (Dec. 21, 1999) — WPI Group, developer of the MPSI service tool, plans to sell its Power Systems and Electronics, Husky Technology, and Instruments Group divisions so it can focus on diagnostic tools for heavy vehicles.
WPI says it will use the money raised from the sale for the development of MPSI’s “E-Technician” Web-based remote diagnostic system and services. When fully developed, E-Technician will monitor approximately 600 data points on a vehicle’s electronic data bus remotely — via wireless and satellite networks –providing real-time analysis for maintenance and repair technicians, including reprogramming vehicles’ on-board computers to enter new calibration data and also reading fault codes. Pilot programs will begin early in the new year, WPI said.
MPSI is located in Sterling Heights, Mich.
