MTO announces CVOR renewals; hires more truck cops
TORONTO — Starting this week, commercial vehcile operators will be required to renew their CVOR registrations on an annual basis.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation says the move will allow it to better monitor companies’ safety performance and take early action to address safety concerns.
A new education program is being developed to help all new truck and bus companies in Ontario understand the rules.
About 5,000 new companies will be required to complete this program each year.
Meanwhile, the MTO will hire 50 additional commercial vehicle inspectors across the province.
The Ontario Trucking Association says it is fully supportive of the new requirement.
