MTO officer wins North American inspection competition

MINNEAPOLIS (August 28, 2001) — Kerri Wirachowsky, a transportation enforcement officer with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, won the ninth annual North American Inspector Championship held August 21-25 in Minneapolis.

Wirachowsky, based in Kitchener, Ont., was named grand champion after beating out 52 other truck and bus inspectors from Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Competitors were judged on their ability to conduct CVSA (Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance) Level 1, motor coach, and hazardous materials inspections.

Wirachowsky placed second in the Level 1 competition, first in motor coach inspections, and third in the hazmat competition.

The North American Inspector Competition is sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, the leading commercial vehicle enforcement organization in North America.
