NAFTA highway trade jumps in July
WASHINGTON — Surface trade among the United States, Canada and Mexico jumped a whopping 15.9 percent in July from the same month in 2007, the Department of Transportation reports.
Trade among the North American Free Trade Agreement partners rose to $71.6 billion, while truck imports to the U.S. rose 4.8 percent year-over-year.
Exports, meanwhile, rose 15.3 percent to $23.8 billion.
Rail imports rose 1 percent to $7 billion, while exports jumped significantly by 42.5 percent to $4.6 billion, DOT said.
