NAFTA highway trade surges late ’07
WASHINGTON — Trade via trucks, trains and pipelines between the U.S. and its North American Free Trade Agreement partners rose significantly — by 8.6 percent — in November 2006 compared with a year earlier but remained below October’s record $74 billion.
Trade with Canada rose 11.5 percent to $45.2 billion in, while trade with Mexico rose 3.6 percent to $25.15 billion.
Through the first 11 months of 2007, trade rose 5 percent to $736.4 billion.
Imports rose 7.8 percent to $39.66 billion, and exports of $30.69 billion represented a 9.6 percent increase compared with November 2006.
About 90 percent of U.S. trade by value with Canada and Mexico moves on land.
