NB spring weight restrictions in effect March 8
FREDERICTON — Spring weight restrictions on New Brunswick highways will begin at midnight on March 8, in southern New Brunswick and at midnight on March 15, in the north.
These dates are dependent upon the weather and how soon frost comes out of the ground and are therefore subject to change, says the Ministry of Transportation.
Commercial drivers are reminded that spring weight restrictions may be imposed within municipal boundaries as well.
Each district engineer with the Department of Transportation analyzes conditions and data to determine which routes will be subject to regulation. Should weather conditions warrant, district engineers are authorized to close roads to trucks or to impose weight restrictions on highways or portions of routes at any time.
A list of spring weight restrictions is available at www.gnb.ca/transportation.
The intent is to remove the regulations on May 17, in southern New Brunswick and on May 24, in the northern region.
