New Brunswick clarifies toll policy for lift axles
FREDERICTON (Feb. 15) — Raised lift axles on trucks and trailers will not be counted toward the assessment of the toll to use the Fredericton-Moncton Highway, New Brunswick Transportation Minister Sheldon Lee announced.
Lee said the change is effective immediately, bringing the toll protocol with respect to lift axles in line with that in other jurisdictions.
The minister said the decision should resolve confusion at the highway’s initial toll plaza at River Glade as to whether tolls should be paid on the total number of lift axles on a truck, or only the number of lowered lift axles.
