New Brunswick seeks input on harmonizing rules for overdimensional loads
FREDERICTON (Feb. 11, 2002) — The New Brunswick Dept. of Transportation has scheduled public meetings in the coming weeks to gather ideas on how to harmonize rules, policies, and conditions related to the movement of overweight and oversize vehicles and loads in Atlantic Canada.
The input received will be used by the Task Force on Vehicle Weights and Dimensions Policy to create a memorandum of understanding among New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island.
Currently, each of the four Atlantic provinces has different requirements for oversize and overweight vehicles or loads. This complicates the transportation of an indivisible oversize and overweight vehicle or load through more than one jurisdiction, and decreases efficiency for the transporter.
