New Brunswick truckers form association

WOODSTOCK, N.B. (April 6, 2000) — A group of New Brunswick owner-operators have formed a new association designed to combat rising fuel prices and other increasing operating costs.

Following a meeting at the Woodstock Campus of the NBCC on April 1, a group of independent truckers voted unanimously to form the New Brunswick Truckers Cooperative Association.

An association spokesperson said truckers felt that a cooperative effort was needed to help fight rising expenses, while at the same time an association was needed to give a unified voice to the individual owner-operator.

Based in Woodstock, N.B., the NBTCA voted in an interim board of directors who are currently concentrating its efforts on negotiating a fuel-deal and increasing public awareness.
