New intermodal trailers a good TIP
Devon, Pa.-based Transport International Pool (TIP) Intermodal Services has acquired about 50,000 intermodal trailers and domestic rail containers from Interpool, which also includes 40,000 units that Interpool recently acquired from Transamerica Leasing Inc. this past October.
Proceeds from the deal, which is expected to close in the second quarter of 2001, is expected to be used by Interpool to pay down debt and free up capital for new investments in other market sectors. The Princeton, NJ-based company also said it wanted to focus more on its key chassis and international container businesses.
