North Ontario truck route almost finished

SAULT STE MARIE, Ont. — A new transport corridor from International Bridge to Second Line in Sault Ste. Marie is near completion.

The official opening ceremony is slated for this week, but officials guess vehicles won’t be rolling down the new stretch for another month, until traffic lights are completely installed, reports the Sault Star.

Railway control signals along the route also must still be installed and the city is awaiting word from CN on its system operations.

The $19.4-million corridor was designed to move traffic out of the downtown core and to improve the flow of traffic from the International Bridge to Second Line.

The roadway will be named Carmen’s Way, after former MP Carmen Provenzano.
