NPTC boss calls it quits
John A. McQuaid has immediately resigned as head of the National Private Truck Council.
McQuaid, who joined NPTC in March 1997, declined to speak about the reasons of his resignation.
NPTC chairman Dan Smith, director of transportation for Smart & Final Co., also declined to shed light on the resignation, but did say McQuaid will stay on board as a consultant through the end of the year. He said the NPTC board expects to announce McQuaid’s replacement within 90 days.
The move comes in the midst of the association’s organization restructuring plans, which includes cutting dues and opening membership to other transportation interests.
