NRCan workshop promises smart tips for fuel management

OTTAWA (April 20, 2001) — Whether you pray for fuel surcharges and tell drivers to lay off the A/C, or you follow a well-crafted strategy for buying and conserving fuel, Natural Resources Canada has a few smart ideas to help you deal with the inevitable rise in the cost of fuel this summer.

NRCan, which promotes fuel efficiency in commercial transportation through its FleetSmart and SmartDriver educational programs, will hold the Windsor Workshop 2001 June 3Ð6 at the Cleary Convention Centre in Windsor, Ont.

Seminars will include practical ideas fleet managers can use to manage fuel consumption. Air LiquideÕs private fleet, the City of Hamilton, Ont., and truckload carriers Bison Transport of Winnipeg and SGT 2000 of Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, Que., will serve as case studies.

Other sessions will address refueling infrastructure, incentive programs for drivers to reduce fuel use, and government emissions policies.

Registration and program details are online at www.windsorworkshop2001.com, or phone Lynda Harvey at 613/947-4291.
