Office workers to get raises: Survey

RICHMOND HILL, Ont. (Dec. 8, 2003) — A new survey released by OfficeTeam — a administrative consulting group — says that there is increased demand for administrative professionals in the transportation and construction industries.

The survey, OfficeTeam 2004 Salary Guide, says average starting compensation for project coordinators in transportation is expected to increase 6.1 per cent in 2004, to range between $32,250 and $41,750.

“Today’s strongest candidates have equally solid technical and interpersonal abilities and can expect higher starting salaries for these highly sought-after skills,” said Lara Dodo, branch manager for OfficeTeam, which also provides companies temporary skilled labour. “Managers continue to seek administrative staff with software expertise who can organize and track information, and provide feedback to senior executives.”

Other findings in the OfficeTeam 2004 Salary Guide include: Base compensation for sales assistants will increase 4.5 per cent, to the range of $28,500 to $35,000 annually; Senior administrative assistants are expected to see a 3.8 per cent increase in starting salaries, to the range of $30,000 to $37,500 per year; Average starting salaries for customer service managers will increase 3.7 per cent, ranging from $36,000 to $47,500 per year; Executive assistants will see a 3.5 per cent increase in starting salaries, to be between $33,750 and $41,000 annually; Starting salaries for office/facilities managers are expected to be in the range of $32,7250 to $40,500, a 2.8 per cent increase compared to last year.
