Online equipment broker, Schneider Logistics form alliance
AUSTIN, Tex. (Jan. 12, 2000) — iMark.com, an Internet-based broker of used industrial equipment, and Schneider Logistics announced an alliance in which Schneider’s business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce logistics services will become the preferred transportation option for online buyers and sellers.
“Offering the buyer transportation options when purchasing used equipment online is part of our strategy of adding services to complete the buying experience,” said Brian Magierski, CEO and co-founder of iMark.com. “We’re taking purchases to the next level. We don’t view the transaction as being complete when the deal is made, we want to extend any service the customer needs to make their experience a complete one.”
iMark.com is the world’s leading business-to-business online marketplace for buying and selling used industrial equipment. The iMark.com Buyer Services help buyers quickly locate the desired equipment and then choose any services needed to put the asset into production, including transportation, financing, spare parts, maintenance supplies, and engineering services.
“The most successful Internet market makers understand the importance of providing a strong transportation and logistics link,” said Chris Lofgren, chief information and logistics officer for Schneider National. “We are very pleased to become the ‘ship now’ button for iMark.com, one of the top online marketplaces today. We will utilize our extensive freight management experience combined with technology leadership to bring the best, most cost-effective options to iMark.com buyers and sellers.”
The Schneider Logistics iMark.com transportation link will allow purchasers to arrange for shipping service after purchasing an item through iMark.com’s site. Once a shipment request is made, Schneider’s system will provide rates for multiple shipment options based on desired transit times and shipment characteristics.
As soon as a shipment is underway, iMark.com customers will be able to track their shipments, and when the shipments are complete, Schneider will handle freight bill payment.
Schneider brings to iMark.com customers established relationships with a broad array of transportation providers and a proven track record of moving major manufacturing equipment. Schneider will coordinate rigging and de-installing (removing used machinery from the seller’s site); shipping via a variety of transportation modes, from trucks to rail freight; and rigging and installation at the buyer’s site. “We’ve moved everything Ð from Doppler weather radar systems headed for hilltop job sites in the Rockies — to an aircraft fuselage via ocean vessel from the U.S. to France,” said Lofgren.
