Ontario drivers share Grand Champion title at national competition
MONTREAL — Ontario and Alberta’s truck drivers distinguished themselves on the Professional Truck Drivers Championship held last month in Quebec.
The event pits all of last year’s provincial winners in a final competition.
Jeffrey Maclean (4 axle category winner) and Karen Porter (step van) were named co- Grand Champions. Jerry Thibodeau (2nd place in B-train) of Atlantic Canada was recognized recruit of the year.
The trophy for best team went to the Alberta contingent of Randy James Smith, Keith Franklin (2 axle winner), Terry Francis (3 axle), Keith Day, Mike Kellar (5 axle) and Bill Mihalcheon.
“The talent, the consciousness and the experiment of the thirty-nine drivers participating in this Championship make honor to our industry,” said Pierre Aubin, president Board of Directors of the Quebec Trucking Association.
Next year’s competition takes place in Saskatchewan.
This year’s event host, Quebec also thanked the Minsitry of Transport, the automobile Insurance society, and the Committee on Transport, for their participation.
