OTA launches exclusive C-TPAT seal product line
TORONTO — The Ontario Trucking Association is launching a unique line of C-TPAT-compliant trailer seals for the trucking industry after entering into an exclusive national arrangement with One Seal Inc.
“OTA has heard from the carrier community that is frustrated in trying to remove C-TPAT rigid steel bolt seals,” said OTA President David Bradley. “Huge bolt cutters are required; drivers are frustrated both in their attempts to cut the bolts and have expressed concern regarding bolt fragments. The issue of bolt fragments increasing the frequency of tire punctures has also been expressed to OTA. OTA believes that the OneSeal Inc. product line significantly mitigates many of these issues.”
The OneSeal patented 79-T96 flexible High Security bolt seal, which is the only truly flexible bolt seal in the world, offers carriers, their customers, and their drivers compliance with C-TPAT standards and peace of mind in knowing the removal of the seal will be trouble-free, OTA says.
“The association witnessed the enormous size of the bolt cutter required and physical effort needed to remove traditional C-TPAT rigid steel bolt seals,” said Bradley. “The OneSeal product requires a seal cutter that will fit in your truck’s glove box (14 inches) with the same physical effort exerted when one prunes a flower. We were amazed at this product.”
The security philosophy behind the unique flexible seal is that all bolt seals can be opened by bolt cutters, but, the flexible seal is virtually impossible to open by use of crude tools, such as, crow bars, hammers or steel pipes. The standard rigid steel bolt seals are more receptive to physical pressure, whereas the flexible seal simply bends, OTA explains.
The association will also be carrying OneSeal Inc. C-TPAT cable seals, but it is fully expected that carriers who are using cable seals will flock to the OneSeal flexible bolt seal.
OTA says that, for the most part, carriers are using the more expensive cable seal product to avoid the problems associated with the removal of bolt seals. But the OneSeal product, OTA says, significantly mitigates these problems and will be more economical than the cable option.
OTA will also be encouraging carriers to educate their customers to purchase the OneSeal flexible bolt seal product from OTA to significantly reduce the supply chains frustration in trying to remove C-TPAT seals.
Carriers can call 416-249-7401 (ext. 223) or e-mail OTA’s Esperanza Tomé (sales@ontruck.org) for details and pricing of the complete C-TPAT seal product line, which includes C-TPAT flexible bolts, bolt cutters and cable seals.
