OTA looking for Bud Barr scholars
TORONTO (May 28, 2001) — The Ontario Trucking Association is looking for post-secondary students interested in applying for the OTA Bud Barr Scholarship Fund.
The $2500 scholarship is available to a university or college-bound son or daughter of a truck driver “who is having a tough time making ends meet as the result of illness, injury, or death of their over-the-road parent,” the association said. The application deadline is June 30.
To be eligible, the student must be an Ontario resident, under 25, and enrolled or registered to attend a college or university on a full-time basis. The scholarship, named after longtime industry supporter Bud Barr, is available to the children of company drivers and owner-operators.
For more information, go to the OTA web site www.ontruck.org (choose training/education from the contents menu), or phone 416/249-7401.
