OTA releases Sharing the Road video.
TORONTO [May 17, 2000] -The Ontario Trucking Association’s member companies and truck drivers want to make Ontario roads safer by increasing general public awareness of how all road users can better share the roads. The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) announced today that it will distribute FREE copies of a video called Sharing the Road with Trucks, to the first 1,000 people who call and request a copy. (One copy of the video per Ontario household.)
The 20-minute video uses live action and computer animated road-sharing scenarios to highlight key tips for road users. The accompanying full colour pocket-sized reference guide can be kept in the car as a quick reminder in the months ahead.
“Truck drivers are NOT at fault in over 72% of collisions that occur between cars and trucks,” said OTA president, David Bradley. “Ontario roads would be a safer place if there was a greater level of understanding of the unique handling capabilities – and limitations – of large commercial vehicles.”
The video and accompanying guide have been produced by Truck Safety Productions with assistance from the Canadian Trucking Alliance, Ontario Trucking Association, International, Canadian Tire, Valvoline, Eagle One, Honda, Goodyear, Manac, and Bell Mobility.
Copies of the video are also available for purchase at $9.99 plus applicable taxes and delivery. Institutions and educational facilities may purchase the video with public viewing rights for $19.99 plus applicable taxes and delivery. Road sharing tips are also available from the OTA web site at www.ontruck.org, or call OTA for a FREE road sharing brochure.
