Paccar announces location for new plant

COLUMBUS, Miss. — Paccar finally ended speculation of where it was going to build its new $400 million powertrain manufacturing facility and technology center.

The lucky town selected by the parent company of Peterbilt and Kenworth Trucks is Columbus, in north Mississippi.

Production of new 13 and 9-liter engines at the new, 400,000 sq ft plant could start by 2010.

“PACCAR is pleased to locate its engine facility in one of the most dynamic and progressive areas in the Southeast,” says Mark Pigott, chairman and chief executive officer. “The Columbus site provides superb proximity to our dealers, customers and strategic supplier partners.”
