Penn’s HOS idling exemption comes to an end

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Truckers resting as part of their hours-of-service downtime will no longer be able to idle their trucks in Pennsylvania.

The state began full enforcement of 2008 emissions law. Until now, trucks idling during federally mandated rest periods were exempt.

The elimination of the exemption was the last phase of the Diesel-Powered Motor Vehicle Idling Act to be implemented.
